Nerd Therapy
Welcome
I offer a unique approach to counseling, tailored to the needs of late-identified Autistic and AuDHD individuals. The name "Nerd Therapy" isn't just a playful nod to embracing your inner nerd—it stands for my therapeutic approach; Narrative, Emergent, Relational, and Dialectic. This framework is designed to be neuro-affirming, culturally resonant, and deeply supportive of your journey.
-
NarrativeNarrative therapy is the foundation of my work. It’s about recognizing that you are the expert in your own life and that the stories you tell about yourself shape your reality. Together, we'll explore these stories, identify those that may be limiting or unhelpful, and co-create new narratives that empower you to live in alignment with your preferred ways of being.
-
EmergentIn therapy, I view each session as an emergent process. This means that our work together isn’t pre-scripted or rigid, but evolves naturally based on what you bring to each conversation. Your thoughts, feelings, and experiences guide the direction of our sessions, allowing us to adapt and respond to what’s most relevant and meaningful to you in the moment.
-
RelationalRelationships are at the core of our lives, and the therapeutic relationship is no exception. Nerd Therapy offers a relational approach that values connection, trust, and collaboration. We’ll work together in a way that honours your autonomy while also fostering a sense of partnership. This relational focus is particularly important in creating a safe space where you feel understood and supported.
-
DialecticalLife is full of complexities and contradictions, especially for those navigating the world as Autistic or AuDHD. The dialectic approach in therapy involves embracing these contradictions and understanding that multiple truths can coexist. We’ll explore the nuances of your experiences, holding space for different perspectives and finding balance in the midst of life’s challenges.

The Power of Stories
Stories are the lifeblood of our existence, flowing through us, shaping the meaning we make of our lives, and our connection to everything that really matters to us.
Stories are more than just words; they are the threads that weave together our experiences, shaping how we see ourselves and the world around us. Their power is fluid—they can grow, transform, empower... or be deconstructed, unravelled, and rewritten.
Stories are the maps by which we navigate our inner landscapes. Some stories are passed down, or imposed on us without our consent, casting us in a role that may not fit comfortably. When we reclaim our storytelling rights, as authors of our own lives, we craft new stories, that allow us to explore new possibilities.
I believe in the power of stories to heal, empower, and evolve, guiding us toward deeper understanding and connection.
